Building Trust in Leadership

Retired Lieutenant Colonel Oakland McCulloch shared insights on leadership and trust, emphasizing the importance of developing a strong organizational culture, training employees to meet standards, providing necessary resources and authority, and allowing them to work independently. He highlighted the significance of 360-degree trust, where leaders must trust their team, the team must trust each other, and the organization must be trusted by external entities.

LTC(R) advised leaders to get out of their offices, engage with their teams personally, and learn about their employees' personal lives to build trust and make better job assignments. He also stressed the need for leaders to be approachable, listen to their teams, and involve themselves in the organization to identify and address trust issues.

Ignite Your Leadership Potential with LTC(R) Oakland McCulloch: Lessons in Service, Integrity, and Impact

Today’s guest on Your Partner In Success Radio is Retired Lieutenant Colonel Oakland McCulloch—a man who’s led troops in combat zones, shaped future military leaders, and now teaches the kind of leadership that leaves a legacy. Over his 23-year Army career, Oak served in Desert Storm, Bosnia, and Kosovo, earned 31 military awards, and played a direct role in commissioning over 600 Army officers.

But he didn’t stop there. After retiring, he turned his talents to growing ROTC programs, leading crisis relief efforts, and becoming a powerful voice on leadership in both the corporate and academic worlds. His book, Your Leadership Legacy, is a no-fluff, boots-on-the-ground guide to leading with trust, accountability, and service.

Oak doesn’t just talk about leadership—he’s lived it. And today, he’s here to share what it really takes to become the leader you were meant to be.
