Video podcasts are finally going mainstream. In spring 2026, Apple Podcasts will add native video support across iOS, iPadOS, visionOS, and the web, letting listeners switch seamlessly between audio and video and download video episodes for offline viewing. Spotify continues to lean into video with direct uploads, in‑app viewing, and new monetization tools, while YouTube remains the dominant destination for full‑length video podcast episodes. Beyond the big three, platforms like Netflix (through curated podcast video deals), Podbean, TalkShoe, and even partially supported apps like Pocket Casts are expanding where and how creators can publish video‑first shows.

📺 Major platforms that support video podcasts

Apple Podcasts – Apple is rolling out a new native video podcast experience in spring 2026, letting listeners switch between audio and video playback and download video episodes for offline viewing. This update is coming to Apple Podcasts across iOS, iPadOS, visionOS, and the web.

Spotify – Spotify is one of the biggest homes for video podcasts: eligible creators can upload video episodes directly, and listeners can watch them in the Spotify app on supported devices. Spotify has also introduced features like uninterrupted video viewing for Premium users in select markets, along with new monetization options for video podcasters.

YouTube – While not a podcast‑specific app, YouTube is effectively the dominant video podcast platform. Many podcasters publish full video episodes here, and a large portion of listeners now treat YouTube as a primary destination for watching podcast content.

📺 Other platforms/distribution options with video

Netflix – Netflix has begun adding video versions of select podcasts through curated partnerships (such as deals with Spotify and iHeartMedia). These are licensed, exclusive video adaptations of existing podcasts, not open uploads, so Netflix functions more as a premium distribution outlet than a general podcast hosting platform.

Pocket Casts (limited support) – Pocket Casts can play video podcasts when the subscribed feed contains video files, but support depends on how the publisher provides the video RSS feed. In practice, video playback works for some shows and setups but is not treated as a core, universal feature of the app.

TalkShoe – This podcast hosting and live‑recording platform offers video support and can integrate with YouTube and other services. Creators can record or stream video shows and then distribute them as video podcasts via connected platforms.

🛠️ Notes on video podcast support

Many traditional podcast apps remain audio‑first. Only some players will actually render video files delivered over RSS; others either ignore video entirely or expect you to host video versions separately (often on YouTube or a video‑focused platform).

YouTube remains the most universal video destination for podcasts because all content there is video by design, and creators commonly upload full podcast episodes to YouTube alongside their standard audio distribution feeds.

It seems like everyone has a podcast. BUT not everyone has 18 years of experience, and a podcast rated in the Top 1.5% of the most popular podcasts globally.
